Accessibility & Accommodation

Regent warmly welcomes students and other community members who have special accessibility needs. If you would benefit from accommodation for a disability, we're here to help.

Mobility & Access for All

All of Regent College’s students and visitors, regardless of their physical capabilities, are able to access all of the rooms and resources on our campus. The entire building is fitted with wide doorways, ramps, accessible washrooms, and an elevator to accommodate wheelchairs. Regent's Chapel also has designated spaces for wheelchairs. The Chapel is not fitted with a hearing loop, but if you have a portable microphone that you'd like a speaker to wear to assist with hearing needs, we'll be glad to accommodate.

If you have any questions about building accessibility or navigation with limited mobility, you're welcome to get in touch with Building Operations Manager Josh Bennick ([email protected], 604-221-3307). We want to help you feel prepared and comfortable during your time on campus.

Academic Accommodations

We want to be a community where everyone is welcome and everyone can thrive. Regent makes every effort, within our means, to accommodate students with documented disabilities. We also have an agreement with the University of British Columbia's Centre for Accessibility, which provides additional services.

If you require special assistance or accommodation in order to take courses, please get in touch with Regent's Academic Advisor as soon as possible so we can work with you to make any necessary arrangements.

You may also wish to contact UBC's Centre for Accessibility to find out about the services they offer and how to access them. In some cases, you may be best served by presenting evidence of your condition to the Centre for Accessibility and asking them to make recommendations for academic accommodations.

UBC Centre for Accessibility

"The Centre for Accessibility facilitates disability-related accommodations and programming initiatives designed to remove barriers for students with disabilities and ongoing medical conditions in all aspects of university life."

Browser Options

Some students may benefit from some simple adjustments to their browser settings. Regent's IT team has prepared a how-to guide that covers:

  • Increasing the zoom or font size in several popular browsers
  • Installing and activating a Google Chrome extension called Dyslexia Friendly
