Orientation

Orientation is designed to help new students make a smooth and successful transition into the life of the Regent College community.

About Orientation

New Student Orientation

Hosted by the Dean of Students Office, Orientation is designed to help new students make a smooth and successful transition into the life of the Regent College community. During these few days we spend some time in worship and getting to know one another. Faculty, staff, and returning students will help you get a feel for who we are as a learning community and what we're trying to do as we share life together. We'll also give you some practical information for personal and academic success as you get started, and introduce you to some faculty and returning students.

Orientation is also a great time to meet Regent's faculty and begin connecting with other students. Many alumni have told us that they formed their most important friendships at Regent during New Student Orientation. If you're an incoming student, please plan to join us, even if you are a Vancouver local! Spouses are also encouraged to participate.

International Student Orientation

Regent also offers a special International Student Orientation, featuring additional information and resources for students coming from outside North America. (Note: As Winter term Orientation tends to be smaller and more intimate, International Student Orientation may not be scheduled on a separate day, as is usually the case in the Fall.)

Online Student Orientation

We host a special orientation session for students who are beginning their Regent studies online. Precise times and formats may vary depending on the needs of incoming students, so keep an eye on messages from the Dean of Students Office to get the details.

More for New Students

Lunch on the Lawn

This is an informal, bring-your-own-lunch gathering typically held on a few Fridays in August. Incoming students are invited to join returning students, staff, and faculty members for a casual time to chat and start getting to know the community.

Welcome Desk

The Welcome Desk is available to assist new on-campus students with practical information as you get settled during the week leading up to Orientation. A member of the New Student Orientation team will greet you and help with any questions you might have about things like your UBC card or U-Pass, health insurance, banking, or our Orientation program.

Household Giveaway

Every year, students who have finished their time at Regent (as well as staff, faculty, and friends of the College) give away good-quality household items as a way to bless incoming students. New students are welcome to browse the Giveaway before and during Orientation.

Other Welcome Activities

Recognizing that orientation at Regent takes more than a few days, we host a variety of activities to welcome and integrate our new students during their first term. This includes our first Chapel, the Fall Retreat, new student lunches, and RCSA community events.

Connect with a Current Student

Are you looking to connect with a current student about life in Vancouver and studying at Regent? Contact the Associate Dean of Students and we’ll try to connect you with someone in a similar life situation (e.g., similar life stage, vocational background, etc.).
