About the Lecture

In these troubled times, hope can be elusive. The news media douse hope with stories aimed to elevate anxiety and cultivate ongoing consumption of the news. Meanwhile, everyone strains toward hope. And Christians, though we know where our hope comes from, can struggle to experience it. Listening to people in spiritual direction and prayer groups, Susan S. Phillips has witnessed efforts to hold onto hope and gained perspective on what can help these efforts. In this lecture, she’ll offer reflections on the gift, practices, and virtue of hope.
