New Testament Foundations
BIBL 501
Course Description
The course New Testament Foundations explores the literature of the New Testament with the primary purpose of growing Christ-following disciples in engaged reading, study, and application of the scriptures to life and ministry in the church. The primary focus will be on the message and content of each book within its particular historical-cultural setting, with attention given to its contribution to the theology of the New Testament as a whole. We will seek to model reading the New Testament wisely, offering a multifaceted paradigm for reading/hearing this literature that includes a sensitivity to reading it as art, as reflecting a worldview that is theologically robust, reading contextually (literary, cultural, historical, global, and intertextual contexts), theologically, integratively, and missionally, believing this text was crafted for transformational ends.
