New Testament Foundations
Course Description
This course will lead students in an exploration of the literature of the New Testament, aiming to provide a strong foundation for engaged reading, further study, and application to life and church. Our primary focus will be the message and content of each book within its particular historical-cultural setting, with attention given to its contribution to the theology of the New Testament as a whole. The course seeks to offer a model for how to read the New Testament wisely, offering a multifaceted paradigm for reading/hearing this literature that includes a sensitivity to the text as art that reflects a worldview and a commitment to reading contextually (considering literary, cultural, historical, and intertextual contexts), theologically, integratively, and missionally.
