GENR 311
Academic Writing
Course Description
This course is designed to help students engage in graduate research and to write the papers that will be required during their course of study at Regent. Students will receive instruction in reading and thinking critically and in improving their writing skills. The course is especially appropriate for those who have a technical (rather than an arts) background, those who are returning to formal study after some years, and for international students who have a command of English but lack experience writing in English. During the semester, students may participate in one-on-one tutorials that will focus on individual problems and concerns. The course will be offered onsite and online. It will be supported with a number of online handouts and resources on Moodle. The focus will be on practical skills and the weekend format will be paced with plenty of breaks, discussion, and hands-on exercises.
In Winter 2024, this course will take place on January 19-20.
NOTE: The deadline to drop this course with 100% refund is on January 18, 2024. After this date, this course cannot be dropped.
This is a non-credit course offering. Course fee is $100
